Lightbox Jewelry De Beers’ lab-grown diamond jewellery brand Lightbox will provide limited grading information for its stones, IDEX Online reports. The move is a response to consumer feedback, according to Lightbox CEO Steve Coe.

Lightbox will provide all 0.2-carat and above stones with minimum specifications for cut, color, clarity and carat weight. To differentiate between Lightbox’s lab-grown products and De Beers’ natural mined diamonds, the LGD grading will specify minimum qualities – colour between G and J; clarity VS or better; cut Very Good.

However, individual stones will not be graded, as Lightbox says “all stones undergo a rigorous quality-control process, so they don’t require detailed reports like mined diamonds”. According to the company’s website, “every white Lightbox lab-grown diamond has been measured as near colorless […] technically defined at between G and J. Every white Lightbox lab-grown diamond has been measured as VS or better. Every Lightbox lab-grown diamond has been measured as ‘Very Good’”
