Apparently you can buy carats in bulk at Costco. The discount retail giant’s Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti told analysts and investors during the company’s second-quarter earnings call that an undisclosed store sold a $600,000 cushion-cut 10-carat solitaire.
The diamond is “a portion of the 247,000 carats the retailer sold,” according to Fox Business. The company would not disclose where the sale took place. This is not the first big rock Costco has sold — last May, Costco sold a diamond ring worth more than $400,000.
However, the $600,000 may not be much of a discount. A quick search for diamonds on the Costco website resulted in 10 pieces selling for more than $100,000, including a necklace for $469,999.99 and a ring for $419,999.99.
